Ben Nevis, 7th July 2022

The walk up Ben Nevis with alex, his second mountain after Snowdon a few years back.

Weather forecast is grey and increasing likelihood of rain as the day goes on.

The start is now at the Glen Nevis Visitor Centre.

It's a long slog and since my last time the path has largely been replaced by rock, either as uneven step which is tough going or sloped rock, which was fine going up but a slippery nightmare coming down. Then above the Lochhan the route becomes more of the rock steps interspersed with shale so increasingly uneven as you ascnd.

Hitting the zig zags we do go above the cloud line and see the odd lesser peak appear through the top of the cloud but not long after the cloud covers as all and as we go further up the visibility is reduced and following the cairns is a must.

Finally at the top, high wind, cold and some wet in the air so a ouple of minutes break in the tumbled down weather station followed by a couple of hours of torture walking back own that rocky and increasingly slippery path.

Jobdone, third trip to the summit for me and I think the last
15  miles, 5 hours and 17 minutes.
